Floor-mounted jib cranes, as essential lifting equipment, are widely used in workshops, warehouses, and production lines. Capable of lifting, lowering, and horizontally moving materials in confined spaces, they greatly improve operational efficiency and reduce manual labor intensity.
However, safety data reveals a critical risk: over 70% of such accidents in domestic facilities stem from insufficient daily maintenance, while the global figure stands at 60%–70%. Typical causes include loose bolts, excessive wire rope wear, and faulty limit switches, with 25%–35% of incidents triggered by electrical failures due to neglected upkeep worldwide.
Thus, proper operation and standardized maintenance are vital to ensuring the efficient, safe, and stable performance of floor-mounted jib cranes.
How to Maintain Floor-Mounted Jib Crane Columns
Regularly check the anchor bolts between the column and the foundation for looseness or corrosion, ensuring a secure connection. If loose bolts are found, tighten them immediately; if severely corroded, replace them.
Inspect the column for deformation, cracks, or corrosion, especially at the welds. If cracks or severe corrosion are found, repair or replace the damaged parts promptly.
Check the rotating bearings inside the column for wear and proper lubrication, ensuring the cantilever can rotate freely, and add grease regularly.
How to Maintain the Slewing Device of Floor-Mounted Jib Cranes
Inspect the H-beams or H-sections of the slewing boom for deformation, cracks, and weld cracks.
Ensure the stop devices at both ends of the slewing boom are intact and effectively limit the hoist’s operating range to prevent it from exceeding the safe zone.
Inspect the rails on the cantilever for wear and deformation, and check if the wheels rotate freely and if their wear exceeds the standard. If the rails are severely worn, they need to be repaired or replaced; if the wheels are worn beyond the standard, they should be replaced immediately.
How to Maintain the Electrical System of Floor-Mounted Jib Cranes
Inspect power and control cables for damage, aging, and short circuits, and check for loose cable joints. Replace or repair any cables found immediately.
Inspect contactors, relays, buttons, switches, and other electrical components for proper functioning, and check for burnt contacts or poor contact. Clean electrical components regularly and replace damaged components as needed.
Check the lifting height limit switch, amplitude limit switch, and slewing limit switch for sensitivity and reliability, ensuring the equipment automatically stops at its extreme positions.
How to Maintain the Lubrication System of Floor-Mounted Jib Cranes
Regularly lubricate all lubrication points of the cantilever crane according to the equipment manual, such as bearings, gears, and sliding parts. Select a suitable lubricant to ensure effective lubrication.
Check the lubrication system, including the oil pump, oil pipes, and grease fittings, for proper operation and leaks. If any malfunction occurs in the lubrication system, repair it promptly.
How to Maintain the Electric Hoist of Floor-Mounted Jib Cranes
Inspect the hook for wear, deformation, and cracks, ensuring that the wear on the dangerous section of the hook does not exceed 10% of its original size, and that the opening and torsional deformation meet standards.
Inspect the wire rope for wear, broken wires, and deformation. If the number of broken wires exceeds the specified standard and the wear is severe, replace it immediately.
Check the brakes and limit switches for sensitivity and reliability, ensuring that there are no foreign objects in the assembly parts to ensure reliable braking and prevent the load from slipping.
Check the gearbox for abnormal noises, overheating, or other abnormal phenomena. Take measures such as improving lubrication or replacing worn parts.
Check the lubricating oil level; add oil if insufficient.
Check all connecting bolts for looseness and ensure they are tightened.
Check the wire rope end plates for looseness and corrosion. If the surface of the end plates shows obvious damage, it may affect their fixing effect and require immediate replacement.
Check the grounding wire and track safety stop for integrity, ensuring that there are no exposed wires and that the nuts are not loose.
How to Maintain the Chain Hoist of Floor-Mounted Jib Cranes
Check for foreign objects in the chain and limit guide grooves to ensure smooth chain operation.
After 5000 hours of operation, check the lubricating oil level. Add oil if insufficient, and replace it every 3000 hours.
Keep the chain and other parts dry. After the operation, move the hoist away from humid, high-temperature, or chemically exposed areas to maintain its performance.
Check if the motor temperature is too high and ensure smooth, uninterrupted operation. Stop and inspect immediately if any abnormalities are found.
Check for wear and fatigue on the brake’s friction surfaces and pressure springs. Replace them immediately if necessary.
Check for loose joints and bolts on the reduction gearbox. Tighten them securely if necessary.
