Den har h\u00f8yere styrke, hardhet, elastisitet og herdbarhet enn generelt st\u00e5l. Varmebehandlingen for kranhjul involverer typisk br\u00e5kj\u00f8ling og temperering, noe som resulterer i en herdet troostittstruktur.
