Gantry crane working in industries

Although gantry cranes come in huge models that are useful in many industries, there are also smaller cranes that are found in smaller industries and warehouses around the world. The crane can be either adjustable height or fixed height, and is usually made of either steel or aluminum, depending on what application the crane will be used for. The way that the gantry crane is designed is with two upright beams and then a cross beam. The crane has two legs that are shaped in an A-frame design with wheels on the bottom to make it portable and movable. Usually, a gantry crane in its smallest version is used in manufacturing jobs to move larger parts, containers and molds into and out of a particular location or between assembly or work stations. In a warehouse setting, the gantry crane is used to move heavy and bulky materials for distances within the working area, and many of these cranes can hold as much as four tons, or eight thousand pounds, and can be as small as eight foot across or as large as twenty foot across. Most have a working fixed height of ten feet, although the crane may be adjustable from seven to sixteen feet so that it can do many different types of job with ease. Some companies will also custom build a gantry crane to the specific needs of a company or manufacturer.

How to choose gantry: buy or rent

Buying

When choosing a crane, keep in mind that not all cranes are well-built. Go with a company that has a consistent history of building equipment and tools that stand up to the rigors of hard work and multiple uses. The crane is not inexpensive, so make sure that you're getting the most for your investment. Also, look for a company that has a good reputation among others in your niche. You can do this by calling around to other companies that have used the supplier in the past. Also, ask for a warranty on the crane. You should look for a general defect warranty of at least five years and a replacement warrant for at least a year when purchasing this type of equipment.

Renting Equipment

It may be the most cost effective for your business to look into renting gantry cranes. Renting heavy equipment like cranes has many advantages - the most obvious of which is that you won't be out a big amount of money up front to have access to the equipment you need. You will also have a guarantee of replacement equipment in a timely manner if something happens to your rented equipment.
